Candidate for Alamance-Burlington School System Board of Education
Safe Schools • Strong Teachers • Opportunities for Every Student
I am an educator, community leader, and proud Burlington resident running for the Alamance-Burlington School System Board of Education. I currently teach at Guilford Technical Community College and hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from High Point University.
As an immigrant, English language learner, and mother of three, I understand how important strong schools are for families. For more than 15 years, I have volunteered in Burlington supporting literacy, refugee families, and students in need through organizations such as Reading Connections and Helping Hands.
I am running to support safe schools, strong teachers, and opportunities for every student.
I am an educator, community leader, and proud Burlington resident who has dedicated my life to education and service. I currently teach at Guilford Technical Community College and previously taught at Alamance Community College. I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from High Point University, and my teaching experience ranges from young children to adult learners.
I am also an immigrant and an English language learner, experiences that shaped my deep belief that education should be accessible to everyone. As a mother of three, I understand firsthand how important strong schools are for families and for the future of our community.
For more than 15 years, I have been actively involved in the Burlington community. I have served on the Police Advisory Board, built homes with Habitat for Humanity, and supported literacy and refugee families through organizations such as Reading Connections and Helping Hands.
Every child deserves to learn in a safe environment. I will advocate for policies and resources that ensure our schools are safe, supportive, and focused on student well-being so parents can feel confident when they send their children to school.
Great teachers build great schools. Our educators deserve respect, support, and fair compensation. I will work to ensure teachers have the resources they need to succeed and to help address challenges that cause many educators to leave the profession.
Many of our schools are at or over capacity. We must plan ahead by investing in school facilities, building new schools when needed, and making thoughtful decisions to ensure every student has a quality learning environment.
